About us
Our concern is ...
… to achieve an improved understanding about resolution of inflammation and its subsequent failure to be resolved in chronic inflammatory diseases. During the first funding period approximately 70 scientists are working in close collaboration with technicians to investigate different molecular mechanism which are essential checkpoints in the resolution process of inflammation. A central objective is a rapid translation to clinical applications.
Our strength is …
… an interdisciplinary consortium composed of physicians, micro-biologists and physicists in the fields of immunology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, dermatology, genetic and radiology to obtain a complete picture of the resolution process of inflammation in different chronic inflammatory diseases. The consortium is supported by the Universitätsklinikum Erlangen, FAU and Max-Planck-Institute for the physics of light by cutting-edge infrastructure and state-of-the-art imaging financed by the German Research Council (DFG) for the next four years.
Our aim is …
… to determine the causes of failure to resolve chronic inflammation in inflammatory diseases. We are divided into 19 subprojects, a central imaging project and an integrated research training group. Further we plan to develop therapeutic strategies to end chronic inflammation and to re-establish immune and tissue homeostasis to alleviate the suffering of patients.
